About Sawdust City Sealcoating
Sawdust City Sealcoating is an independent local resource for asphalt maintenance in Oshkosh and the surrounding Winnebago County communities. The name is the city's own. Oshkosh was the Sawdust Capital of the World when the mills along the Fox River were running, and the nickname stuck long after the last of them closed. This site exists to explain how pavement maintenance actually works in this particular market and to connect Oshkosh property owners with local sealcoating crews.
What is published here is sourced. The climate figures come from the 1991-2020 normals for Oshkosh, the salt and brine numbers from WisDOT's county-level winter maintenance data for Winnebago County, the soil descriptions from the USDA's own series records, and the frost and thaw dates from WisDOT's frozen road guidance. Every source is listed with its URL on the [winter pavement data page](/oshkosh-winter-pavement-data). Pricing is published as observed market ranges rather than quotes, so a bid can be checked against something before it is signed.
